Definition of "Vogue"

According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary:

Main Entry: vogue
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle French, action of rowing, course, fashion, from voguer to sail, from Old French, from Old Italian vogare to row
Date: 1571

1. archaic: the leading place in popularity or acceptance
2. a: popular acceptation or favor, b: a period of popularity
3. one that is in fashion at a particular time

I think I agree with this definition, at least as far as acceptance. Popularity would be correct if it is agreed upon that it means something "well-liked" and not the high school version where it is a criteria of social happiness.

I have started many blogs before this, but like diaries, I never seem to keep them updated and end up forgetting about them. This is sad since my major and minors in college are mainly about writing. But I will try to keep this blog up, I think it will be a fun way to express my love for this city. This city being San Antonio.

I have lived in the great state of Texas (not to be bias or anything) practically my whole life. The only time I have been away, not including vacations, would be during my college years out of state. But while I am home, I frequently come to San Antonio for entertainment and the beauty of it.

San Antonio, Texas is the 7th largest in the United States and the 2nd largest in Texas, (Houston is 1st). The population is probably close to 1.5 million. The city was named after the Portuguese St. Anthony, who came here when a Spanish expedition stopped in the area in 1691. San Antonio has many famous landmarks such as the Alamo and the Tower of the Americas (needle), to name a few. Also, my personal favorite, the River Walk (also known as Paseo del Rio).

(Wikipedia) The River Walk is a network of walkways along the banks of the San Antonio River, one story beneath downtown San Antonio. Lined by bars, shops and restaurants, the River Walk is an important part of the city's urban fabric and a tourist attraction in its own right.

There are so many fascinating things in this wonderful city. This blog will be a mixture of all things San Antonio. I will post reviews (of restaurants, hotels, stores, etc.), ideas and various post on different things about downtown and around the city. In reference to the "Vogue" portion of the name. I'm hoping to show/describe what is beautiful and "popular" here in the city. This will include what I have said above, as well as culture, fashion and entertainment. I will try to add pictures to each post based on what is written in that day's post. This will be great for tourism as well as locals just interested to get to know there city a little better. :-)
